EXPERIENCE: Visita Iglesia 2013
Visita Iglesia, which literally mean church visit, was introduced by the Spanish colonizers where Christians would visit churches during Maundy Thursday.
Since 2010, we're practicing Visita Iglesia every Maundy Thursday as our way of sacrifice and practice of faith in lieu of the Holy Week. This year is our 3rd year to visit churches within Batangas area. My oldest sister, her husband - Kuya Michael and our cousin - Ate Joy decided to join me in this year's Visita Iglesia.
Traditionally, seven (7) churches are visited with two stations per visit. Other Christians, with more time and effort, visit fourteen (14). Let me share to you the churches we've visited this year (in order of visit):
Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Church - San Vicente, Banay Banay, Lipa City, Batangas |
St. Joseph Church - San Jose, Batangas |
Basilica de San Martin de Tours - Taal, Batangas |
Shrine of Our Lady of Caysasay - Caysasay, Taal, Batangas |
St. Benedict Monastery - Pinagtung-Ulan, Lipa City |
Sto. Nino Parish Church - Pinagtung Ulan, Lipa City |
The Divino Amor Redemptorist Church - Lipa City, Batangas |
