Balangay - A Collective Exhibit of Thesis Projects

I tried buying a Virgin LabFest Overload Festival Pass but didn't pushed through with it because the packages they're offering now are time bound. I need first to reschedule my viewing and booked it on my calendar to make sure there are no conflicts for my prior commitments.

There's always a new discovery everytime I visit Cultural Center of the Philippines. Today, June 10, 2016, is the opening of the newest exhibit at the Little Theater Lobby entitled Balangay.

Balangay is a collective of thesis projects by incoming Grade 11 visual arts majors of the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) in Los Baños, Laguna. The exhibit intends to celebrate passage, the journey of art students showing their growth individually and as a community through constructs and inquiries on beauty, nature, the power and frailty of cultural traditions, and the personas and personalities of negotiated identities by individuals and society.

The thesis project is the final requirement following the curriculum for visual arts majors from Grades 7 to 10. The exhibiting students of Batch Felipe de Leon-Lazaro Francisco belong to the first class entering the initial senior high school program of the PHSA in 2016. The participating students are Payb Biglete, Salve Dagñalan, Equia Dueñas, Asia Entico, Sofia Hurtado, Jude Macasinag, and Nicolas Puyat.

I am happy to see young people create and share their masterpieces to the public. This event makes me happy as I know that we still have more young people who are into arts.

Balangay will run from June 10, 2016 to July 10, 2016. Hope you can visit this exhibit.
