#ThaterPH - The Two Popes and Mikhail Red's Dead Kids Premieres at Cinema One Original Film Festival 2019
Netflix will be debuting its presence at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival by giving Philippine consumers a preview of The Two Popes and hosting the world premiere of Dead Kids. This first-ever partnership with a local Film Festival reinforces Netflix's commitment to cultivating Filipino creativity, and the company’s support for Filipino talent and content industry.
The Two Popes is a story from Fernando Meirelles, the Academy Award-nominated director of “City of God,” and three-time Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten, comes an intimate story of one of the most dramatic transitions of power in the last 2,000 years. Frustrated with the direction of the church, Cardinal Bergoglio (Jonathan Pryce) requests permission to retire in 2012 from Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins). Instead, facing scandal and self-doubt, the introspective Pope Benedict summons his harshest critic and future successor to Rome to reveal a secret that would shake the foundations of the Catholic Church. Behind Vatican walls, a struggle commences between both tradition and progress, guilt and forgiveness, as these two very different men confront their pasts in order to find common ground and forge a future for a billion followers around the world. The story is inspired by true events. The Two Popes launches on Netflix on November 27, 2019.
Dead Kids is a story about a socially awkward teen who bonds with a group of misfits who plot to take out the school's arrogant rich kid -- that is until their kidnapping scheme turns deadly. Based on true events.
The Two Popes will be screening at the Cinema One Original Film Festival on November 13 and 16. Dead Kids will have its red carpet premiere on November 17, 2019 as the closing film of the Festival and a sharing session with Director Mikhail Red and main cast of the film prior to the screening.
