#TechPH - UBX launches UrGovPH for LGUs’ digital transformation
With the launch of UrGovPH, a suite of open finance solutions that enables local governments to digitally transform their services, UBX, the top open finance platform in the Philippines, is stepping up its support for the government.
UrGovPH supports the country's initiative to bring critical services closer to the people by providing local government units (LGUs) and national government agencies with the key tools they need to digitalize public service.
“As the Philippines continues on its digital transformation journey, UBX commits to ramp up its support to the government. With a spectrum of open finance solutions, UrGovPH empowers government units and agencies to digitally transform their services and bring them closer to their citizens and stakeholders,” UBX President John Januszczak said.
The project fits in with the present administration's efforts to create a "digital Philippines" that will employ technology and innovation to better serve the public and carry out government operations. By utilizing the potential of modern technology, Filipinos would enjoy secure and convenient access to government services.
Recent calls for a coordinated strategy to create new technologies to meet the rising demand for digital services, particularly in government, came from President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
Marcos stated during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) that the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will lead efforts to create e-governance solutions to make access to government services more convenient for the general public.
“It has the daunting task of transforming our government into an agile bureaucracy that is responsive to the needs of the public, provide good and solid data to ensure informed decision-making, as well as allow secure and seamless access to public services,” he said.
Marcos further instructed government entities to digitalize the “voluminous records stored in the government warehouses and archives” and share them across all departments and agencies for transparency and harmony of processes.
By utilizing open finance solutions offered by UrGovPH, such as the social services marketplace, financial services, information management, asset management, service management, and identification solutions, LGUs can actively answer to this demand with the aid of UBX.
LGUs that collaborate with UBX for their digital transformation initiatives are given the power to automate the workflow for the management of all social services, from local civil registry to ordinance enforcement to citizen and business registration to accepting digital payments.
The banking-as-a-service platform i2i from UBX enables residents to conduct digital transactions with their local governments. I2i offers carded or non-carded disbursements in addition to cashless and in-store payment methods. It also makes it possible for municipal governments to automate taxation and accounting.
With the aid of UrGovPH, customer relations should also improve because all information assets will be accessible through a variety of ways. The functionality includes inquiry management and dispute resolution management. To make it easier to manage the listings of real estate, the environment, and enterprises under each LGU, real estate, environmental, and business assets will also be blockchain-enabled. Real property assets will also be mappable based on location.
Businesses will have easier access to reputable lenders in the Philippines through SeekCap thanks to UrGovPH. With UBX's network of partner lenders, business owners may search for and apply for business loans online, assisting small and medium enterprises in obtaining the crucial funding they require to remain afloat and competitive.
Moreover, citizen verification will be automated for faster and more efficient delivery of various services. ID verification, liveness check, and pre-filled information from the existing government IDs or connected database will be available.
LGUs will also have access to various government agencies and private partners of UBX, allowing them to introduce new digital services and further improve governance.
UrGovPH solutions can be hyper-personalized to the specific needs of the LGUs’ citizens.
UrGovPH supports the national government’s drive to promote ease of doing business, as enshrined under Republic Act No. 11032 of 2018. UrGovPH also complements the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) National Financial Inclusion Strategy and the Digital Transformation Roadmap.
It also strengthens Executive Order No. 170 of 2022 or the Adoption of Digital Payments for Disbursements and Collections and the Electronic Commerce Act or RA No. 8792.
“As a critical government partner, UBX’s UrGovPH aids the new administration in ushering the Philippines to a new digital era. With open finance solutions powering e-governance, we believe that we will be on track to meeting our shared goal of including 70 percent of Filipino adults in the country’s financial systems,” Januszczak said.
