Origin of the Original 

Co-CEO and co-founders Andrew and Peggy Cherng, a husband and wife team, launched Panda Express in 1983. They successfully created the brand as the largest Asian dining concept in the US and the largest American Chinese concept in the world by using authentic Chinese recipes that were modified to suit global preferences.

Filipino foodies have shown a lot of support for the Original Orange Chicken since the first Panda Express® restaurant opened there in late 2019. This dish is a wok-tossed, crispy chicken meal covered in a sweet, tangy sauce. The spices of Yangzhou, China, the hometown of Panda co-founder Andrew Cherng, served as the inspiration for the dish.

The Original Orange Chicken is Panda’s most popular dish and represents about a third of the entire business. In 2021, Panda Express® served over 117 million pounds of Orange Chicken worldwide!
