The ASEAN-India Music Festival (AIMF) 2024 was a spectacular celebration of music and culture, marking a significant milestone in India’s ‘Act East Policy.’ Held from November 29 to December 1 at the historic Purana Qila in New Delhi, this event brought together some of the most exciting musical talents from India and Southeast Asia, offering free entry to all music lovers.
A Melodic Celebration of Unity
Organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Seher, the festival celebrated a decade of India’s strategic partnership with ASEAN countries. Thousands of music enthusiasts gathered over three days to witness a stunning tribute to the unifying power of music. Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Pabitra Margherita, who inaugurated the event, beautifully captured the essence of the festival: “ASEAN India Music Festival 2024 has shown how melodies can dissolve boundaries and foster connections that go beyond geography.”
Day 1: A Grand Opening
The festival kicked off in grand style with captivating performances by India’s music icons Shaan and Raghu Dixit, alongside ASEAN talents like CHET Kanhchna from Cambodia, MRTV from Myanmar, and Buc Tuong from Vietnam. The opening day set the tone for a weekend filled with dynamic and diverse musical acts.
Day 2: Electrifying Performances
Day two continued to deliver electrifying performances on a global music stage. India’s sensational pop duo Sukriti-Prakriti and indie pop-rock heroes Western Ghats brought their dynamic energy to the ancient grounds of Purana Qila. ASEAN artists like Floor 88 from Malaysia, Television Off from Thailand, and Tropical Hornbills from Brunei showcased their vibrant cultures, captivating the audience with their unique sounds.
Day 3: A Memorable Finale
The final day of the festival saw award-winning singer-songwriter Jasleen Royal captivate the huge crowds with her soulful performance. The audience was also treated to remarkable acts from ASEAN, including Subsonic Eye from Singapore, who delivered ethereal indie pop, and Milledenials from Indonesia, who turned up the tempo with their infectious energy. TAIY AKARD from Lao PDR and KAIA from the Philippines rounded off the night with high-powered sets, concluding the 2024 edition of the ASEAN-India Music Festival on a high note.
A Universal Language
The festival was more than just an occasion to hear great music; it played a vital role in connecting people from different backgrounds. Shaan, known as the “Golden Voice of India,” reflected on the experience: “Music is the heartbeat of humanity, and this festival showed us just how powerful that connection can be.”

Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Pabitra Margherita, highlighted the festival’s role in strengthening ASEAN-India ties through shared cultural bonds. He remarked, “This highlights the cultural bonds we’ve forged over the years. It’s a celebration of how music transcends borders, deepening our connections and strengthening the ties that unite ASEAN and India in our shared journey of growth.”
Sanjeev Bhargava, Director of Seher, echoed this sentiment, describing the event as a representation of the connections that grow from shared experiences and the relationships built over time. “By coming together to celebrate, we are fostering understanding and enriching the ties that bind our cultures,” he said.
The ASEAN-India Music Festival 2024 was a beautiful symphony of cultures, showcasing the best of music and regional bonds. It was a reminder that when art speaks, it unites us in ways words alone cannot.
