#CulturePH - TBA Studios Kicks Off Production for the Highly-Anticipated Historical Film 'Quezon'
TBA Studios has officially announced the production of their much-anticipated biographical historical film, "Quezon", set to hit theaters later this year.
A New Chapter in the Bayaniverse
"Quezon" continues TBA Studios' celebrated "Bayaniverse" series, which brought us the box office hits "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral." This film marks TBA Studios' first major production since 2020, following their success in distributing award-winning international films like "Everything, Everywhere All At Once" and "Triangle of Sadness."
The film will delve into the life of Manuel L. Quezon, the Filipino lawyer and soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944. Expect a gripping narrative that highlights his tumultuous presidential campaign against then-President Emilio Aguinaldo.
A Stellar Team
Jerrold Tarog, the talented director and co-writer behind "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," returns to helm "Quezon." With his expertise, we can anticipate a film that is both historically accurate and cinematically captivating.
"Quezon" is backed by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), showcasing a strong partnership aimed at promoting world-class Filipino films. The FDCP has even announced funding support for this landmark project.
Casting Surprises
While the casting for major and supporting roles is still under wraps, TBA Studios President and COO Daphne Chiu promises that the lineup will feature names that will surprise and excite both audiences and hardcore fans of the Bayaniverse.
A Legacy of Success
TBA Studios has a proven track record of success with historical films. "Heneral Luna" remains the highest-grossing historical film in the Philippines and was the country's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Stay tuned for more updates on "Quezon" as production progresses. This film is set to be a must-watch for anyone interested in Philippine history and cinema.
