#CulturePH - Araneta City Moves for the Future: Celebrating Earth Hour 2025
As we embrace the warmth of March, there's a special event that brings us all together for a common cause – Earth Hour. This year, Araneta City is taking its commitment to sustainability to new heights with a series of meaningful activities that invite everyone to "Move for the Future." Let's dive into how Araneta City is making a difference and how you can be part of this incredible journey.
Lights Off for a Brighter Future
On March 22, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Araneta City will join millions around the world in the WWF Earth Hour Switch Off. For one hour, the iconic landmarks, establishments, and streets of the City of Firsts will go dark, symbolizing a collective commitment to a greener future. It's more than just turning off the lights; it's a powerful reminder that every small action we take can lead to real change.
Marjorie Go, VP for Marketing, beautifully captures this sentiment: "For Araneta City, Earth Hour is more than a symbolic switch-off. It’s a call to action, a reminder that every small choice we make can add up to real change."
Interactive Displays and Adventures
Leading up to Earth Hour, Araneta City has planned a series of engaging activities that blend fun with environmental awareness. At Ali Mall, the "Unplug and Play: Geo Quest" activation will transport kids and kids at heart into an adventure that combines exploration with beloved Filipino childhood games. From March 17 to 20, participants can navigate through an interactive forest trail, passing through the Patintero Clearing, Snake and Ladder Jungle, and Piko Shrub. It's a delightful way to connect with nature and learn about sustainability.
Over at Gateway Mall 2, the stunning LED ceiling of Quantum Skyview will feature "Quantum Wildlife: The Flight of Haring Ibon," a visual presentation in collaboration with wildlife photographer and filmmaker Vinz Pascua of Haring Ibon PH. From March 22 to 30, this exhibit will showcase breathtaking images and compelling stories of the country's endangered bird species, raising awareness about the importance of protecting their natural habitats.
Sustainability Takes Center Stage
At Farmers Plaza, sustainability is the star of the show with "SustainaBILIty: A POP QC Eco Fair" from March 21 to 23. In partnership with the local government of Quezon City, this fair will highlight local businesses championing eco-friendly products and responsible consumption. On March 22, eco talks will offer practical insights into resource efficiency and plastic-free solutions, empowering individuals and businesses to reduce waste and embrace sustainability.
Running for a Greener Tomorrow
Araneta City's Sunday run club is also getting a green makeover. On March 16, 23, and 30, the aRUNeta Eco Run Club will encourage participants to run not just for fitness, but also for the environment. Every purchase of an official run club shirt comes with a bamboo sapling pledge to the Green Project, an initiative by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF) that aids in the reforestation of Rizal. It's a wonderful way to combine health and environmental stewardship.
Marjorie Go sums it up perfectly: "Beyond simply turning off the lights in Araneta City, we are encouraging everyone to turn on their sense of responsibility. The power to create a brighter future belongs to each of us. So for this year's Earth Hour, we are not just observing. We are moving for the future, and we invite everyone to move with us."
So, let's come together and make a difference this Earth Hour. Join Araneta City in celebrating sustainability and taking steps towards a greener future. Every action counts, and together, we can create a brighter tomorrow.
