#FitnessPH - The Philippines’ largest sports playground, SM Active Hub, kicks off with pickleball and running.
Imagine a day filled with energy, excitement, and a sense of community as 30,000 people come together to celebrate the launch of the SM Active Hub. This isn't just any event; it's the beginning of a new era in sports and fitness in the Philippines, and I had the pleasure of experiencing it firsthand.
On March 9, 2025, SM Supermalls unveiled the SM Active Hub at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA), marking the start of the largest sports playground in the country. The atmosphere was electric as participants from all walks of life gathered to join in the festivities. From the Filipina CEO Circle’s 2025 Women's Run PH at the SM MOA Concert Grounds to the annual SM2SM Run from SM Seaside City Cebu to SM City Cebu, the event was a testament to the power of community and the joy of staying active.
The launch event was a vibrant showcase of what the SM Active Hub has to offer. Picture this: 44 pickleball courts spread across 21 SM malls and 14 running hubs throughout the archipelago. It's a dream come true for sports enthusiasts, providing accessible and top-tier sports experiences to every Filipino. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to have some fun, the SM Active Hub has something for everyone.
As I wandered through the bustling crowd at the SM MOA's Music Hall, I couldn't help but feel inspired by the vision behind the SM Active Hub. It's not just about sports; it's about creating spaces where Filipinos can thrive. SM Supermalls President Steven Tan captured this sentiment perfectly when he said, "At SM Supermalls, we’re committed to creating spaces where Filipinos thrive, and today, we launch SM Active Hub – the Philippines’ largest sports playground."
One of the highlights of the day was the exhilarating pickleball exhibition matches. If you haven't tried pickleball yet, you're in for a treat. It's a sport that's easy to pick up and enjoy, regardless of age or skill level. Watching players of all ages take to the courts was a heartwarming sight, and it was clear that pickleball is quickly becoming a favorite pastime for many.
The running events were equally impressive. Over 8,000 participants filled the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds for the second edition of the Women's Run PH, while more than 14,000 runners took on the 21K course from SM Seaside City Cebu to SM City Cebu in the 13th annual SM2SM Run. The sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among the runners was palpable, and it was a reminder of the incredible things we can achieve when we come together.
But the SM Active Hub is more than just a one-day event. It's a nationwide initiative that spans from Tuguegarao to Davao, bringing the joy of sports to every corner of the Philippines. With running hubs at iconic locations like SM Mall of Asia, SM By the Bay, and SM Seaside City Cebu, and pickleball courts at SM North EDSA, SM Southmall, and many other SM malls, there's no shortage of opportunities to get active and have fun.
Supporting this incredible initiative are leading brands like Toby's Sports, Asics, Sports Central, Under Armour, Power Mac Center, Hydroaid, Daily Fix, But First, Coffee, and Taters. Their involvement underscores the significance of the SM Active Hub and its mission to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
As I left the event, I couldn't help but feel excited about the future of the SM Active Hub. This launch is just the beginning, and I can't wait to see what other thrilling sports experiences and venues SM Supermalls has in store for us. If you haven't already, I highly recommend downloading the SM Malls Online app to register for the SM Active Hub, explore upcoming events, and enjoy exclusive perks and offers from tenants nationwide.
Join the largest sports revolution in the Philippines and be part of a community that celebrates health, fitness, and fun. The SM Active Hub is here, and it's ready to welcome you with open arms. Let's get active together!
