#MusicPH - A Night of Opera: Arthur Espiritu's Homecoming Concert at MiraNila
Critically acclaimed tenor Arthur Espiritu is set to enchant audiences with a one-night-only concert at the MiraNila Heritage House & Library on April 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. This event, presented in partnership with Leon Gallery and Gallery MiraNila of The Blue Leaf, with support from the Bizu Groupe, promises an unforgettable evening of opera.
Join us for a magical experience as Filipino-American tenor Arthur Espiritu returns from his European tour, where he has been lauded for his "magnificent vocal power" and "effortlessness and radiance." Espiritu, known as a "rare spinto-tenor in the tradition of Pavarotti," will perform pieces by Gabriel Fauré, Franz Lehar, Giacomo Puccini, Charles Gounod, Richard Strauss, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and Francesco Sartori.

In an interview with Michael Ching, Espiritu shared insights from his career, which began in Europe. Despite initial challenges, he has proven himself with hard work and dedication. His advice to aspiring talents? "Work really, really hard at your artistry, put yourself into that character, and take that extra step with a chip on your shoulder."
Born in Morong, Rizal, Philippines, Espiritu migrated to the United States in his teens and earned an Artist Diploma in Music Performance from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. He has won prestigious awards, including the La Scala award at the Belvedere Competition and the George London Award. Espiritu has performed leading roles in North America, Europe, and Asia, with recent highlights including roles in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Puccini’s La Boheme.

Performing alongside Espiritu is the multi-awarded soprano Jade Riccio and virtuoso pianist Mariel Ilusorio. Riccio, an Italian-Filipina from Palawan, has received numerous accolades, including the 37th Aliw Awards Hall of Fame. Ilusorio, a Juilliard-trained pianist, has performed internationally and now resides in the Philippines, where she continues to perform and teach.
