#MusicPH - SOS Drops Their Highly Anticipated Second Album, 'It Was A Moment'
The wait is finally over. SOS has just released their much-anticipated second album, It Was A Moment, and it's everything fans have been hoping for and more.
A New Chapter for SOS
Following the success of their debut album Whatever That Was in 2017, SOS is back with a fresh sound and a new perspective. Their latest 11-track project marks a significant departure from their earlier work, showcasing a more mature and reflective side of the band. While their debut was raw and immediate, It Was A Moment is lighter, more polished, and sonically expansive, thanks to the addition of synths and keys.
The Band's Evolution
The members of SOS—Seña, Andrew, Anjo, King, and the newest addition, Ram—have grown both personally and musically. Andrew describes the new album as a "lab experiment," a stark contrast to the road-tested tracks of their first album. King adds that the album reflects the "transitional stages" of their lives as they enter their 30s, with bigger worlds and more responsibilities.
What's Inside the Album?
It Was A Moment features a mix of new tracks and previously released singles. Fans will recognize "Seryoso" and "Please Lang," the band's only Tagalog-language songs, as well as "Roses" and the long-time fan-favorite "Amore." The carrier single, "Yumi & The Apocalypse," sets the tone for the album with its blend of introspection and optimism.
Themes and Highlights
The album delves into themes of weariness, cynicism, and relationship woes, but also offers moments of hope and resilience. Tracks like "I'm Kidding" and "Money" explore the band's struggles, while "Love Kept Us Warm" and "French Exit" provide a more hopeful outlook. The title track, "It Was A Moment," is a standout, described as a "love letter to SOS fans" with its lyrical and sonic callbacks to the band's earlier work.
On the Road Again
With the album release, SOS is ready to hit the road. The band plans to tour around Metro Manila and hopes to schedule shows outside the city as well. "We just want to share our journey as SOS and hopefully have the album resonate with people who need to hear our new songs," says King.
Behind the Scenes
It Was A Moment was recorded at the band's Bavarian Studios in La Union and mixed and mastered by Cholo Hermosa of 15D Studio Mix. The album features contributions from various artists, including Kiddo Cosio on trumpet for "Yumi & The Apocalypse."
