After the successful restaging of "Othello," get ready for the premiere of Nelsito Gomez’s newest adaptation, "In The Eyes Of The People". This fiery new play, freely adapted from Henrik Ibsen’s "An Enemy of the People," is set in the charming town of Santa Cristina in the Visayas.

A Tale of Science, Politics, and Morality

The story revolves around the grand opening of the Santa Cristina Hot Springs, led by Mayor Peter and his sister Tricia, the project’s Chief Scientist. Just two weeks before the big event, an unknown bacteria is discovered, putting the entire project at risk. "In The Eyes Of The People" delves into the clash between science and politics, raising profound questions about morality and the sacrifices we make for profit.

A Stellar Cast and Unique Production

This captivating play is a co-production of two of Manila’s most exciting fringe theatre groups: Company Of Actors In Streamlined Theatre (CAST) and Mad Child Productions. Featuring some of Manila’s finest actors and emerging talents, the cast includes Jenny Jamora as Tricia Lopez-Ramos, Ron Capinding as Peter Lopez, Nor Domingo as Alvin Ramos, Jam Binay as Pauline Ramos, Zöe De Ocampo as Enzo Santiago, and Katski Flores as Ruby Ganpon.

Nelsito Gomez shares his passion for adapting Ibsen’s work, stating, “Reshaping it into a loving but privileged Filipino family and exploring the issues of the original through a modern lens has been a four-year journey of trial and error. But through my wonderful collaborations with this amazing cast and excellent dramaturge, this nearly hundred and fifty-year-old Norwegian play will (hopefully) resonate strongly with a Filipino audience of today.”

Jenny Jamora’s Return to the Stage

"In The Eyes Of The People" also marks Jenny Jamora’s return to acting since 2019. A renowned director, Jenny expresses her excitement, saying, “I have to remind myself that, after the preparation, I need to enjoy the unpredictability of the next step—very different from directing where you need to put down strategies to reach a goal. So I'm just going to enjoy this brief moment in time where I can leap before I look again.”

Intimate Performances at The Mirror Studios

All performances will be held at The Mirror Studios, located on the 5th floor of the SJG building, 8463 Kalayaan Ave, Makati. This hyper-intimate staging allows for an audience of only eighty people per show, creating a unique and personal experience. Tickets are priced at PHP 1000 per seat, and performances are scheduled for April 26 and April 27 at 3 PM and 8 PM.
