#TheaterPH - A Fresh Perspective on 9 Works Theatrical's "Liwanag sa Dilim"
Having not read any blogs or reviews prior to watching "Liwanag sa Dilim" on its third week, I approached the show with a fresh perspective. What unfolded before me was nothing short of a theatrical marvel.
High-Tech Set Design and Video Projections
From the moment the curtains rose, the high-tech set design and video projections transported the audience into a world reminiscent of "Everything Everywhere All At Once." The seamless integration of technology with the stagecraft created a visually stunning experience that was both immersive and dynamic. Each scene was meticulously crafted, making every moment feel like a cinematic masterpiece.

Choreography and Pinoy Humor
The choreography was another standout element, perfectly synchronized and full of energy. The dance sequences were not only visually captivating but also infused with the distinct flavor of Pinoy humor. The punchlines were delivered with impeccable timing, eliciting laughter and applause from the audience. It was a delightful blend of movement and comedy that highlighted the unique cultural nuances of Filipino humor.
Twists, Turns, and Noli Me Tangere
One of the most impressive aspects of "Liwanag sa Dilim" was how it wove the storyline of "Noli Me Tangere" into its narrative. The twists and turns kept the audience on the edge of their seats, and as the play progressed, the connections to José Rizal's classic novel became increasingly clear. It was a masterful incorporation that added depth and historical context to the story.

Moments of Individual Brilliance
The cast delivered stellar performances, with Khalil Ramos, Nicole Omilio, and Boo Gabunada leading the charge. Each actor brought their character to life with passion and authenticity. However, it was Boo Gabunada's portrayal of Padre Salve that truly stole the show. His performance was so convincing that it sent shivers down my spine. Gabunada's ability to embody the sinister nature of his character was nothing short of remarkable.

What I loved most about "Liwanag sa Dilim" was how it allowed each character to shine. There were moments throughout the play where individual performances stood out, creating a tapestry of memorable scenes. The picturesque and cinematic quality of each scene added to the overall beauty of the production.
Though there were scenes that I felt were not entirely necessary, the play successfully delivered a well-thought-out and executed material. The overall narrative was compelling, and the production's attention to detail was evident in every aspect.
